2018 Running Festival

Each year, we pick a theme and a focused fundraising effort. In prior years, these efforts have focused on technology, enrichment, and improving our recess and physical education programming. Our 2018 running festival effort was dubbed, the “Sprint For The Schoolyard.” We had nearly 400 students, faculty, family and friends of Roland Park walking and running distances from 3.1 miles to the full marathon, and 94 fundraising teams that received nearly 800 donations. A large portion of the money raised will go towards transforming one of the green spaces in front of our school building. Once completed, the school yard will be converted into an outdoor classroom and gather place. Sitting areas and landscaping will give students a change in learning atmosphere and allow teacher to connect the world around them into their lessons.

Festival Participation

The actual running is small, compared to the outpouring of generousity leading up to the festival. Each year our organizers find away to make this event exciting for the entire school community. From classroom parties, to teacher competitions, to even becoming principal for the day…the Roland Park Annual Fund works to give everyone in the school community a rooting-interest in this event.

2018 was no different. Donors to our “Sprint For The School Yard” helped to raise more than $75,000, surpassing our goal.
